Who We Are

The Mini Katana Group

What is the Mini Katana Group you ask? Well it is basically a group of companies owned and run by the Thorondor family. It encompasses Excalibur Dehydrators Australia™, Nature's Wonderland, Angel Juicers, Akela and Hydrogen Water, each company specialising in a specific product brand. The Mini Katana Group name is actually derived from the first two letters of the names of each member of the family - Mikayla, Nicholas, Katinka, Tamara and Natasha, which just so happens to form "Mini Katana", pretty cool right?

Bringing over 15 years of experience with the Excalibur dehydrator. We pride ourselves on offering personal, friendly customer service, both over email and the phone — presales and aftersales. We provide customers with expert knowledge, in-depth information and help in the form of extensive online content, as well as personal interaction.

Experience

The Brand

Excalibur products are for individuals who cultivate a lifestyle of health and well-being. Products that are functional yet transformational, empowering you to alter the way you live, feel and nourish the body. Since 1973, Excalibur has consistently introduced advancements related to the mechanics of dehydration. In the process of perfecting dehydration, a legacy was born. Excalibur dehydrators are still manufactured in the USA with the same passion and performance values that defined the brand since its inception.

Mikayla Thorondor

Mini Katana

Mikayla brings over 35 years of retail experience to Excalibur Dehydrators Australia™, having run her art & décor gallery 'Sha's' back in the 80s & 90s. She then transitioned to starting Nature's Wonderland, the very first business of the Mini Katana Group back in 1996 in Warburton, Victoria. Originally the business was focused on nature-based art and interior décor. This was before the internet was really a thing (gasp), and Nature's Wonderland has since changed it's focus both in a product sense, and by adapting to an online landscape. Mikayla endeavours to pass on this vast reservoir of experience by being a mentor to her kids, and keeps a close interest in the runnings of the business.

Art and creativity are Mikayla's life force! She lives to relish the beauty of nature, and to artistically enhance all aspects of her surroundings. Nature, sustainable living, an eco-friendly world and self sufficiency are at her core.

When she isn't working on designing imagery or taking photos for the business, she freelances as a digital artist to visual effects companies around the world.

Tamara Thorondor

She has since moved on to pursue other paths in Melbourne, Victoria, but still serves as a consultant to the business. Locations

Head Office

Toogoolawah

Our head office is located in Toogoolawah, Queensland. Toogoolawah is a small country town, away from the hustle and bustle of the big smoke, about an hour and a half out of Brisbane.

Why choose a rural location for your head office you ask? Well it is a lifestyle choice really. By working out of Toogoolawah, we have found we can still run at the same efficiency as a city based office, but are then lucky enough to get to work from a location surrounded by beautiful nature and abundant wildlife every day of the week, and in fact we wholeheartedly support local conservation and are proud to say that our Toogoolawah location is a registered 'Wildlife Land Trust' and 'Land For Wildlife' property.

Warehouse

Melbourne CBD

While our head office may be located in Toogoolwah, we also have warehousing based in the Melbourne CBD, Victoria from which we ship the majority of our larger stock, including our Excalibur dehydrator units. As we ship all across the country, the central location of Melbourne ensures shipping efficiency, keeping transit times of the items we send out as short as possible - meaning you get your products faster, yay!
